| 02-25-2010 Florence A. Funk (nee Meyer), 96, of the Town of Polk, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls.
Florence was born March 31, 1913 in Milwaukee to Gustav and Mary (nee Sowinski) Meyer. She was united in marriage to Albert Funk on October 21, 1933 in Slinger.
Florence was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Slinger. She moved to the Slinger area from Milwaukee where they farmed. She worked for Carbon Engineering in Slinger for many years. She enjoyed cooking and was known for her Christmas Butter horns and her dumplings. She loved to share stories and reminisce over old family pictures. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family meant absolutely everything to her.
Florence is survived by her son Albert Jr. (significant other Dorothy “Dottie” Blish); her grandchildren Jeanie (Mike) Becker, Tom (Sue) Funk and Keith Funk all of Slinger; her great grandchildren, Amanda, Adam, Sarah (Dustin), Corey and Nikki, her sister, Mildred Ashby of TX. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives, Joe Merten and Lorraine Merten and other friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Albert, her parents, her daughter-in-law Donna.
Mass of Christian Burial for Florence will be held Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church Slinger with Father Rick Stoffel officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday at the church only from 4:00 – 6:30 p.m.
Interment Union Cemetery, Slinger. Memorials to St. Peter Catholic Church Slinger appreciated.
